The Community Organizations and Schools (COS) Committee exists to uplift all people who live, work and play in Echo Park by supporting community organizations and events that benefit the neighborhood.

To further this Mission we review applications for Neighborhood Purpose Grants that are available to eligible community organizations that want to serve Echo Park.

Neighborhood Purpose Grant (NPG) applications are reviewed at COS Committee meetings at the discretion of the committee chair(s).

If your NPG application relates to an event happening during a specific date, it is in your best interest to submit the application at least 90 days before the event. This recommendation takes into account the time it takes for applications to be reviewed, voted on, sent over to the City Clerk, and some buffer time in case your application needs revisions at any point in the approval process.

*NPG funding may run out before the end of the fiscal year. If funds are still available, May will be the last month we are able to review NPG applications for the current fiscal year. Apply as early as possible!

NPG Application Process

  • Review the EPNC Neighborhood Purpose Grant Guidelines

  • Complete the following documents:

    • Neighborhood Purpose Grant Application, completed and signed

    • Project Budget, on a separate sheet if the space provided in application form is not sufficient

    • If you are a non-profit 501(c)(3), your IRS Letter of Determination

    • If you are a public school, a letter on official school letterhead, signed by the school Principal

  • Submit your application to this committee for review and to be put on our meeting agenda for discussion and possible action. Be mindful that it can take up to 90 days for the entire process (from application to receiving funding) to be completed.

  • NOTE: Recipients are required to provide a Project Completion Report to clerk.ncfunding@lacity.org and info@echoparknc.com at the conclusion of the proposed project funded by the grant, . Failure to submit this form may disqualify your organization from future NPG applications.
